Job Title: Technical Safety Engineer
Location: Aberdeen, UK

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
* Maintaining a set of project Technical Safety Performance standards and guidelines to provide a sound basis for engineering to progress on
* Provide a constant and pro-active review of Technical Safety works and deliverables being produced by the project and engineering contractors
* Manage support contractors or internal employees in the delivery of technical safety studies and reviews
* Support project team with discipline reviews, troubleshooting, HAZOP’s and audits etc
* Support the project throughout the ‘stage-gate’ process in accordance with the Project Delivery System (PDS)
* Promote the HSEQ objectives and drive down through the project organisation such that works by project personnel, suppliers, contractors and partners is undertaken in an appropriate professional manner
* Participate in the identification of risks and eliminate or implement mitigation measures. Capitalise on potential opportunities
* Provide input to project reporting requirements
Requirements:
* Sufficient experience in working in large scale projects
* Awareness of working within a stage-gate process
* Previous experience of 3rd party tie-backs preferred
* Strong networking and communication skills (externally and internally) – ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships in support of Tech Safety engineering
* Extensive experience of Technical Safety engineering in a Facilities / Developments engineering environment
* A detailed knowledge and application of UK safety case legislation and relevant statutory provisions
* Extensive knowledge of major hazard management, SCEs and Performance Standards
* Principles and use of QRA
* Experience of a client / operator environment and knowledge of the safety, environmental and operational aspects of their work
* Problem solving / analysis and decision making (Within own recognised boundaries)
* Knowledge of process design safety through application of inherently safe design and international standards relating to layers of protection, pressure protection, relief & de-pressurising systems and instrumented protection systems
* Involvement in Conceptual / FEED / Detailed Design / Operation of facilities
* Familiarity with Technical Safety deliverables
* Previous Operator experience preferred
* Demonstrable knowledge of engineering contractor practices
* Competent in the preparation and delivery of progress reports
* Good overall understanding of Project context & lifecycle
* Have the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
* Display a flexible attitude and have the ability to react to changing scenarios and priorities
* Excellent written and presentation skills, with ability to adapt style and content of presentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
* Ability to display confidence in own abilities and is motivated to deliver
