Job Title: Subsea Design Engineer

Location: Aberdeen, UK

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

       * Successful candidate will be responsible for design activities related to an SSIV structure, caisson riser, tie-in spools and SSIV umbilical.  Responsibilities include:

       * Manage detailed design subsea contractor

       * Review and comment subsea contractor’s technical deliverables (documents and drawings) to ensure compliance with project governing documents, Talisman’s specifications, project principal codes and standards and other relevant industrial codes and standards

       * Provide a constant and pro-active review of detailed design works and deliverables being produced by detailed design contractor

       * Provide engineering support for procurement, fabrication and installation

       * Input to subsea survey technical scope

       * Co-ordinate the interface between design and fabrication contractor

       * Co-ordinate the Interface between design and procurement

       * Co-ordinate the Interface between design and installation contractor

       * Maintain the 'stage gate' processes through all phases of the project delivery system

       * To work in accordance with the company’s project department management system

       * Remain abreast of legislative requirements

       * Preparation of design/engineering documents as required

       * Provide input to cost estimates and execution plans

       * Give design clarifications and advise on engineering queries / change proposals raised during project life cycle

       * Ensure delivery of all aspects of discipline design, specification and procurement of the project to cost, schedule and quality criteria

       * Respond to engineering and technical queries

       * Ensure technical integrity of all subsea discipline deliverables on the project

       * Plan and maintain the discipline progress of the project

       * Report periodically progress status to the line and function reporting lines

       * Ensure all interfaces to other disciplines are clearly defined and correctly engineered

       * Liaise with other disciplines, departments, project personnel and contractors

       * Manage subsea external resources/contractors (if applicable) according to the project scope and schedule to ensure timely and cost effective project delivery

       * Ensure the design comply with local Authority rules and regulations;

       * Co-ordination to identify interface requirements for components and packages supplied by the company (from an engineering / design prospective)

       * Participate in project meetings, HAZIDs and other review meetings

       * Populate project’s risk register for design activities

       * Support project team with discipline reviews, troubleshooting, audits etc

       * Promote the HSEQ objectives and drive down through the project organisation such that works by project personnel, suppliers, contractors and partners is undertaken in an appropriate professional manner

       * Participate in the identification of risks and eliminate or implement mitigation measures. Capitalise on potential opportunities

       * Provide input to project reporting requirements

       * Manage design interface between our client and other partners


* A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

* Extensive experience of subsea design and consultancy

* Experience in conceptual, basic and detailed design

* Previous experience of 3rd party tie-backs preferred

* Client / operator experience preferred but not essential

* Awareness of working within a stage-gate process

* Strong networking and communication skills (externally and internally) – ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships

* Problem solving / analysis and decision making (Within own recognised boundaries)

* Have the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team

* Display a flexible attitude and have the ability to react to changing scenarios and priorities

* Excellent written and presentation skills, with ability to adapt style and content of presentation for both technical and non-technical audiences

* Ability to display confidence in own abilities and is motivated to deliver
