Job Title Senior reservoir Geologist
Our client, a Major Operator is seeking a new Reservoir Geologist staff member to strengthen their high calibre teams. SUMMARY OF POSITION
Working closely with our reservoir engineering team, this position will focus on the evaluation of analogue oil sands projects as a basis of comparison with our client's SAGD bitumen properties and their potential wrt production and performance forecasting.
Integrate all available subsurface data into a geological model for oil sands evaluation. This includes the calculation of bitumen pay, porosity, permeability, barriers to steam flow, facies distribution and reservoir characterization.
Create accurate subsurface maps of bitumen resource for both our client and competitor oil sands properties.
Integrate well logs (including imaging logs), facies interpretation, core and test data to build geological interpretations and to understand depositional environments.
Identify top and bottom thief zones (gas and water), lean zones, IHS and bitumen zones and their effect on reservoir performance and production.
Work in harmony with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and in particular with our reservoir engineer.
Effectively use Tools including Landmark products and RMS.
Identify and evaluate main uncertainties.
Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.
Minimum of five years experience in subsurface mapping and facies distributions, preferably within the oil sands region of northeastern Alberta.
Must have a solid understanding of SAGD reservoirs within the McMurray formation of northeastern Alberta.
Must have excellent presentation skills.
Must be well organized and technically competent.
Must be able to interface with a wide variety of professionals within a matrix organization.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
Must be a motivated self starter.

Ability to make critical decisions and direct multiple staff, projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
